I’ve been modding various Game Boy consoles for a couple of years now. Here are some of the finished consoles (forgive the lackluster backgrounds; they will be cleaner looking in the future).
Of course, there are at least five consoles I haven’t “finished” because they weren’t up to my standards. I plan to tweak them as soon as my workspace is ready to use again.
The first picture is of my GBA SP Slab Remix build; it took hours and multiple iterations to finish. I had to have the shell reprinted when it wouldn’t stay together because the screws couldn’t be tightened enough. I had to redo the wiring as well, because I used wire that was just too thick. I had to (carefully) use enameled copper wire. If you know, you know. I also had to insert metal pegs through the shoulder button tabs inside the case, as the stupid things wouldn’t stay in. Overall, I’m really happy with how this came out.
The regular GBAs might look a bit weird because the protective cling plastic is still on the screen. I didn’t want the screens getting scratched while I stored them before I mailed them out. Nothing worse than a scratched screen on your console.
